What kind of things we hope for our society that follow models of development that goes againts the palnet, againts the nature... of course my society suffers too much obidience, special because Colombia is a develop country; so, all of us follow economc ideas like try to buy cars instead of use public transportation, and the goverment don't care about offer chances to change the situation. I know that the manner is to change myself, and don't follow the ways trends that try selling me more and more things. In the oder hand I can realize that we follow obidience juts to feel part of a gruop, and we want to be protect for the same group. it's a tricky question, we are humans, and we need feel recognize in a society; so, we always try to be member of a bunch of people, but it's difficult to refuse some behaviors when you accept others; at the final you accept all behaviors to be member of a group.
Andres,
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting to hear that you think Colombia's being a developing country contributes to its excessive or potentially destructive levels of obedience. Sometimes I think the opposite is true here--we are so afraid of losing things--status, money, power, etc.--that we jeopardize or compromise our moral compasses. You're right: obedience is always a tricky question--but I hope coming to realize that helps us to be more aware and make the right choices even when they are difficult.
I wish that would be an "I like" button for comments! haha! I'm understanding now, because I've never talked about obedience before. Sometimes I've just was obedient when it was convenient without asking to my self "why do I have to do this" But I'm becoming aware about this and considering a few things like the system of the authority that we follow and the system that we want to follow. If we want to follow a system to be part of a group, it's our decision.
ReplyDeleteI like your comments, They really had made me think about how I am.
ReplyDeleteI like when jessica writes about to be more aware of how I should act like, deciding to be obedient or not if I believe it's the best choice.
I also agree with Jorge when he says that he never asked himself the reason why he has to do something because neither do I, and I think it's a good idea to decide if it's proper to do something or not.
Great work, everyone. Jorge, I like your phrase about the difference between the system of authority we follow and the system that we *want* to follow. All us us, mostly, want to be or like to be obedient--but to what systems, at what costs?
ReplyDeleteCheck out Hal's Blog. He gave the wrong address in class, but the right one is below:
